Booking your engagement photos is such an exciting step in your love story—but let’s be honest, it can also feel a little overwhelming at first. All my clients have questions like: What should you wear? Where should the session take place? Will you feel comfortable in front of the camera? That’s exactly where a pre-engagement consultation comes in—and why I believe it’s one of the most important steps in creating a session that feels personal, meaningful, and truly you.
As a professional engagement photographer in Wausau, Wisconsin, I don’t just show up with a camera—I create a thoughtful, collaborative experience that begins well before the day of your session. In fact it starts the day you reach out. I love starting with a quick phone call when you inquire about an engagement session. I think it’s so important for me to hear your story, learn about you and your fiancé, and start to think about how I can tailor the session to your love story. I also think it’s so important for you to start to get to know me and feel comfortable and confident as me as your photographer. This foundation is the base we’ll build a fun and laid back session on that tells YOUR LOVE STORY!
After our initial phone call you’ll receive a client questionnaire via email. This questionnaire is the next step in our pre-session consultation. These question help me continue to get to know you and your fiancé, and help me continue to build a session that is tailored to your, your story, and who you are as a couple.
Things we discuss during our pre-session consultation; we’ll chat about your relationship, what you want your photos to feel like, and any ideas or concerns you might have. Whether you envision a romantic lakeside shoot, something playful downtown, or you want to get adventurous and wade into the water at golden hour (yes, we can do that!), your vision matters. The consult is where the magic begins, it’s how I turn “I hope this turns out okay” into “This was so us!”
