The “R” Family Session up north | Wisconsin Photographer

Wausau Wisconsin Family Photographer

I’ll be honest, on a normal day I am not much of a morning person. But this day I was more than happy and excited to get up way before the sun for a drive to Rhinelander, Wisconsin.

This family wanted to have a family session in a place that was meaningful to them, their family cabin. I drove in the dark and watched the deer in the field watching me drive by to get to the cabin before sunrise. When I arrived they were just getting finished getting ready, but I knew I wanted to get some of shots of them like this before we headed outside.

Mom and dad made me feel like I had known them forever. We went outside and watched the sunrise over the water, it was one of the prettiest views I have seen. It took awhile for their oldest to warm up to me, but the beauty of capturing connections rather than forced smiles is he had all the time he needed without demanding smiles. By the end, he was cracking me up!

When people ask if I travel the answer is always absolutely! I love capturing memories where memories are made for you. If that means driving a few hours before the sun is up, I will fill my coffee up to the brim and be ready to go!
