When we are planning a session we’ll talk about your hope for the session. One of the things that plays a big part of the look and overall feel of your family photos is the location. I have a variety of locations that I have scouted and know have something special to offer my clients. Depending on their unique vision for their photos, I know I have a location that will compliment or enhance their photos.
I’ll always ask if there is any place that is special to you you’ve thought about or wanted to have your family photos taken at. Sometimes it’s something like Rib Mountain where many families love to hike, sometimes it’s their favorite local park. And sometimes it’s beautiful family land, like it was for this family.
They asked if I would drive out to their family land and I said absolutely!
next we jumped into what to wear for their family photos. This is a family of seven, so there was a lot of coordinating to do. I love helping my clients put together wardrobe, I make it fun and easy and something they look forward to instead of getting overwhelmed and questioning their choices. Mom and and all three girls wanted to utilize my client closet, so we scheduled a try on session so they could try on the different options in their size and we could start to put together what each one loved and make sure if flowed together. Once we got all the ladies outfits picked out, we moved onto the guys options. I helped them pick and coordinate the full family. the colors flowed together so effortlessly and absolutely popped in our location!
We had the most beautiful fall day for family photos! The fall color we are their peak! We wandered and played all over their family land. As I do with all my family sessions we started with the full family together. I captured one with everyone looking but my focus is always capturing the love, joy, fun, and connections over any kind of stiff poses or forced smiles. I captured just the kids together and individual portraits of each of the kids. Then it was time for just mom and dad. I always make time to capture just them together, their love story, where the family began.
