A Cozy In-Home Newborn Session: Welcoming Baby Boy and His Corgi Buddy
There’s something truly special about in-home newborn sessions. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful new family in the Wausau area—mom, dad, their adorable baby boy, and let’s not forget their corgi, who was already in love with his new tiny human. There’s just something about capturing these moments in the comfort of your own home that adds an extra layer of warmth and authenticity to the photos.
Many times there is apprehension about in home sessions. But we use small spaces in the house that make a big impact! Everyone is so happy when they see the magic of in home sessions!
We started the session looking at the client closet options for both mom and baby. Mom had narrowed down her favorites to two dresses prior to the session and we build the styling around those. One everyone got changed we jumped into creating the photos!
We spent most of our time in the parents room and in the nursery. The nursery was thoughtfully designed and filled with sentimental touches. One of the highlights was a handmade toy chest that baby boy’s dad had crafted himself—such a sweet and personal detail. We also included a few other family treasures, like wall art grandpa made. It’s these little things that tell the story of a family, and I love weaving them into the session.
The beauty of in-home newborn sessions is that they’re as easy as they are meaningful. You don’t have to worry about packing up the diaper bag, getting everyone out the door on time, or dealing with the unpredictability of public places. Instead, you get to relax in your own space while I capture these precious moments. Plus, your home becomes a part of the story, adding a unique and personal backdrop to your photos.
